We are happy to announce that our extension is now complete and we are very pleased with the result.
There is now a new more spacious downstairs waiting room which will allow more privacy for patients at the reception.
The new downstairs surgery is being used by the hygienists to allow easier access for all patients who may previously have struggled with the stairs.
We look forward to seeing you soon and hope you will enjoy the newly extended practice.
Patient newsletter June 2019
Our new extension is taking shape and will provide 2 new downstairs surgeries and a waiting area alongside our new staffroom and patient toilet. Our hygienist will move downstairs for easier patient access.
We expect our building work to be completed by autumn, unfortunately the project has been delayed by the very wet weather.
The additional surgeries will help us deliver new and specialist treatments to our patients with an in-house endodontist, a specialist in root canal treatment. This dentist will take referrals from other local practices.
In the near future we are also hoping to introduce Invisalign the market leader in invisible/clear braces to straighten teeth. This innovative system uses cutting edge technology to transform your smile. Thanks to the unique 3D technology used throughout the process, Invisalign allows for highly predictable and precise results and treatment times are often greatly reduced.
Rawdon Dental Practice has been accepted as a local recycling point for used dental products. Toothpaste tubes, floss containers and tooth brush packaging can all be brought into the practice for recycling. You do not have to be a patient of the Practice to use this service, so please let your family and friends know.
There is still time to take advantage of our summer whitening offer only £249. Please ask our reception team for more information.
Finally, we would like to thank you for your patience in completing your medical histories on our Clinipads. This enables us to keep your details up to date and safe within your dental records. Once completed we will just require you to update any changes every 6 months.
There have been some exciting changes to our team in the past few weeks. We would like to congratulate Vicky one of our hygieinst on the birth of baby number 3. Vicky is currently on maternity leave and will be rejoining the team in January.
Lindsay and Rachel will be leaving us in the next few weeks as they too are both expecting babies! We wish them both well.
Building work has started for our extension with a planned completion date in July.
John, one of our dentists, will be increasing his availability at Rawdon and reducing his teaching commitment at Leeds Dental Institute.
Finally, Andrea joined our team earlier in the month as our Practice Manager. Andrea has been involved in dentistry for over 30 years as both a dental nurse and practice manager.
Penny and Simon have been fortunate to work with Andrea earlier in their careers and know that she will be a great asset to the practice.

Plans are in full swing for our extension. We are finalising the drawings and should in a position to start the build early next year. The extension will consist of a second downstairs surgery, waiting area, repositioning of our accessible toilet and extending the staff room.
This month we will be saying goodbye to Janet one of our reception team. Janet is retiring after more than 10 loyal years at the practice. She is hoping to spend more time tending to her beautiful garden and allotment. Denise, who also worked in reception, is leaving to pursue a career as a driving instructor.
We wish them both well in the future.
We are fortunate to have recruited two lovely new receptionists. Debbie, who is a receptionist and qualified dental nurse, as well as Sarah, who is an experienced dental receptionist. Debbie and Sarah will be working alongside Lynn and Rachel who continue to provide a friendly and efficient service to our patients.
We are delighted to share the good news that both Kate and Marc, our trainee dental nurses recently past their dental nursing exams. They both worked incredibly hard and deserve this success.
Marc also got married this month. Our best wishes go to him and his new wife.

The practice has been steadily expanding over the past 12 months and we have recruited two trainee dental nurses, Marc and Kate.
Marc joined us from a local dental practice with twelve months experience and Kate left teaching deciding on a career change.
We also welcomed a new receptionist, Rachel comes with 16 years of dental reception experience and is a great asset to our team.
John our dental associate is very busy and from the New Year will be working all day Wednesday as well as Fridays.
Due to demand we have expanded our hygienist clinics and they are now available five days a week. These sessions are always busy so we suggest to book well in advance, especially if you would like a checkup with the dentist at the same visit.
From January our hygienist will be working three sessions each week in our downstairs surgery, this will make the hygienist more available to patients who struggle with stairs.
We have recently upgraded our dental chairs; all our chairs are state of the art and maintained to the highest standards.
At the end of June we had our routine inspection by the CQC (Care Quality Commission) and we are pleased to say they were very impressed with Rawdon Dental Practice.
